How to give your child bright emotions, help learn new skills and give impetus to development?
The dolphintherapy method that we developed is aimed at improving functioning and quality of life.
Dolphintherapy improves speech, attention, thinking, social, motor and other skills.
In addition, the course becomes a vivid emotional experience in the child's life, and a dolphin becomes a real friend for the child.
Sessions in the playfull way
Dolphins are incredibly intelligent, kind and very friendly animals who love to play. This allows us in our work with children to set various tasks and most importantly to solve them in the form of a game.
A fun game with a dolphin - what can be more interesting!
That is how the child perceives what is happening and does not even suspect that during the game with the ring dolphintherapist can work on establishing eye contact, developing speech or concentration; develop fine motor skills while massaging the dolphin; and by showing the coach commands work on the skill of imitation.
Tasks related to the development of social, cognitive, motor, and many other skills are also solved in the playfull way.
Our dolphin's game repertoire consists of more than 30 different elements. Each element can be used depending on the therapeutic task set for the course. This allows the dolphintherapist to create a programme for each child, taking into account all of their individual characteristics.
The participation of a dolphin as a play partner in this interaction increases the child's intrinsic motivation to perform the tasks set by the dolphintherapist - this makes it possible to solve the set tasks in a shorter time.
Dolphintherapist is a certified specialist who has the right to work with special-needs children - a psychologist, a disability specialist, a correctional teacher, a rehabilitation specialist, etc.
In addition to working with a specific problem of the child, the dolphintherapist's duties include ensuring the safety of the child, both during game interaction with the dolphin on shore, and during contact with him in water.
Furthermore, the dolphintherapist makes sure that the child does not harm the dolphin.
Only specially trained dolphins participate in dolphin therapy sessions - these are dolphins that have all the necessary skills, are friendly and, most importantly, are completely healthy.
A dolphin trainer is a marine mammal specialist who is the link between the dolphintherapist and the dolphin. The trainer is responsible for the dolphin's performance of the elements of play and exercise that are necessary for the dolphin to carry out the programme developed by the dolphintherapist. On the other hand, the trainer can make adjustments to this programme depending on what the dolphin needs at the particular moment
For more than ten years, our specialists have been successfully working with children with mental and speech developmental delays, behavioral and motor impairments, social interaction difficulties and other problems associated with neurological spectrum disorders and genetic diseases, such as:
Age
The recommended age for dolphin assisted therapy is 3 years or older.
The reasons for this are as follows:
Dolphintherapy is a supporting method. If your child has diagnosed developmental problems, first of all, it is necessary to address to the correction methods traditional for this diagnosis.
The child should be psychologically prepared for a meeting with a large animal. With children under 3 years old, there is a risk that the child will be frightened or remain indifferent to the dolphin. In addition to the fact that the child must be prepared for a meeting with a dolphin, it is also important to prepare him for cool water and lack of support under child`s feet while swimming in a deep pool.
Contraindications to dolphintherapy are:
*Children with epilepsy can undergo dolphin therapy if at least 6 months have passed since the last attack, as well needed the written permission of the attending physician, neurologist.
